Coach’s Corner

I love being a Coon Rapids wrestler because…the people
the effort and strife of trying to be the best we can be
the tears and joy from winning and losing
the sweat in my eyes
the long run after school outside in 12 degree weather- burning lungs…and no hat
the group hug at the end of practice when we say “Cardinal Pride” ….and mean it
the short run after school outside in 12 degree weather burning lungs …and no gloves

I love being a Coon Rapids wrestler because…
coach yells at me when I screw up …he wouldn’t if he didn’t think I had what it takes
the feeling of a king, when my hand gets raised in triumph for all the world to see
my name on the morning announcements or in the newspaper
the shame I feel when I fail
our managers smiles and cheerfulness
Cardinal Jacks and more Cardinal Jacks if they weren’t loud enough the first time
I feel like I have made a contribution or is it just the feeling of belonging?

I love being a Coon Rapids wrestler because…it’s fun!
I like the hot steamy wrestling room
the hustle and bustle before a big dual, weigh-ins, the national anthem…. what a pretty voice
the hard working parents and volunteers
my t-shirt drenched with sweat , the camaraderie in the locker room after practice
will we ever get to state again? Yes!
the new mat is pretty cool…especially on TV

I love being a Coon Rapids wrestler because…
my best friends are there with me everyday….. and probably will be for life
of the secret Cardinal hand shake…if I showed it to you then it wouldn’t be a secret…would it?
champions are made when no one else is looking
if you are prepared you have nothing to fear
and all the other mottos that motivate me and my teammates
the sleep-overs… its easy to cut weight when the guy you hang with can’t eat either
so that’s why they call it a team!

I love being a Coon Rapids wrestler because…
my coaches work hard to ensure our success
the bus rides.. oh the bus rides…where many a story is told, a song … the Cardinal Fight song
senior night and the reading of the poem- someday… I will be a man… like the poem says
parents night …mom / dad you’ve never not been there
our cheerleaders have special cheers…some just for me
the summer picnic
red, white and black

I love being a Coon Rapids wrestler because…
when it’s all over with I will have no regrets…I did my very best
